Lisbon, Aug. 19, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Wednesday, with the PSI index falling by 0.71% to 9,238.90 points, following the prevailing downward trend across the rest of Europe.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 11 fell, three rose, and Altri and Semapa remained unchanged at €4.73 and €20.20 respectively.
BCP led the fallers, dropping by 1.73% to €1.08.
Also of note were Teixeira Duarte, which fell by 1.64% to €0.48, EDP, which dropped by 1.42% to €4.59, and EDP Renewables, which fell by 1.18% to €13.41.
Shares falling by less than 1% included Sonae SGPS (€2.00), NOS (€4.83), REN (€3.51), Corticeira Amorim (€6.73), Mota-Engil (€4.48), CTT (€6.32) and Galp (€21.46).
Leading the gains was Ibersol, which rose by 2.03% to €10.04.
Jerónimo Martins (€17.18) and Navigator (€3.21) posted gains of less than 1%.
Elsewhere in Europe, Madrid fell by 0.44%, Frankfurt by 0.14% and Paris by 0.09%, whilst London rose by 0.14%.
