Across Europe, the main stock markets opened mixed today, with investors keeping a close eye on oil price movements, in a session that will see the release of the week's key economic data: US inflation figures.
The euro was stable, down 0.04% against the dollar and trading at $1.1537 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.
Stock markets across Europe opened cautiously, keeping a close eye, yet again, on the movement of Brent crude oil prices amid tensions between the United States and Iran, and following the attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Oman.
Against this backdrop, it was reported that year-on-year inflation in Germany rose to 2.8% in July.
This afternoon, July's year-on-year inflation figures will be released in the United States. The market expects them to fall slightly to 3.4%.
If confirmed, analysts quoted by Efe say this would increase the likelihood that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) might ease monetary policy by the end of the year.
Ahead of this data release, futures for the main US stock market indices are pointing to gains of 0.34% and 0.36% for the Dow Jones and the technology-heavy Nasdaq respectively, after both closed lower on Tuesday.
The price of the benchmark Brent crude oil contract in Europe is up 0.61% at $89.45.
