Lisbon, Aug. 10, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading slightly lower on Monday morning, with Teixeira Duarte falling 1.75% to €0.48 and Ibersol rising 1.64% to €0.90.
At around 9.30 am in Lisbon, the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) was down 0.05% at 9,176.75 points, with eight companies falling, five rising and three remaining unchanged (REN at €3.53, Semapa at €20.05 and Sonae at €2.03).
Teixeira Duarte's shares were followed by those of BCP, NOS and Jerónimo Martins, which fell by 0.87% to €1.09, 0.78% to €4.81 and 0.57% to €17.39 respectively.
CTT and Mota-Engil fell by 0.56% to €6.26 and 0.35% to €4.41, whilst the other two companies seeing their share prices fall were Navigator (-0.24% to €3.26) and Altri (-0.11% to €4.75).
On the other hand, in addition to Ibersol, EDP Renewables and Corticeira Amorim rose by 0.37% to €13.40 and 0.30% to €6.76 respectively.
EDP and Galp also gained ground, rising by 0.18% to €4.48 and 0.10% to €19.84 respectively.
In Europe, the main stock markets opened lower today, following the highs reached last week, whilst the market remains focused on the situation in the Middle East and oil price trends.
The euro was stable, up 0.03% against the dollar and trading at $1.1563 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.
European stock markets began the week without much momentum, despite widespread gains in Asia, where Tokyo's main index, the Nikkei, rose by 2.08% today, South Korea's Kospi by 0.65% and the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 0.67%.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index is up 0.97%.
Futures on the main US stock market indices point to a flat opening for the Dow Jones and gains for the tech-heavy Nasdaq.
Last Friday, Wall Street closed higher, buoyed by the prospect that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) might delay raising interest rates in the US following weaker-than-expected employment figures.
Meanwhile, the market remains focused on the Middle East, where Iran has warned that it «is not engaged in any negotiations with the United States», although it has assured that intermediaries «continue to try to find ways to re-establish negotiations».
Regarding the talks with Oman aimed at establishing a new maritime route, which are in their final stages, Iran has stated that the agreement between Tehran and Muscat would not, in itself, mean the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Against this backdrop, the price of Brent crude oil, the benchmark in Europe, rose by 0.26% to $83.77, whilst that of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the benchmark in the United States, rose by 0.10% to $78.26.
