Lisbon, Aug. 5, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading higher on Wednesday morning, with Teixeira Duarte leading the gains, rising 1.41% to €0.50.
At around 09:20 in Lisbon, the PSI was up 0.30% at 9,196.39 points, with nine companies rising, five falling and two remaining unchanged (Altri at €4.79 and Corticeira Amorim at €6.69).
Teixeira Duarte's shares were followed by those of Sonae, REN and EDP, which rose by 1.21% to €2.09, 1.16% to €3.49 and 0.85% to €4.49, respectively.
Mota-Engil, EDP Renováveis and BCP rose by 0.65% to €4.64, 0.52% to €13.53 and 0.41% to €1.09.
The other two companies that gained ground were CTT (up 0.24% to €6.20) and Galp (up 0.20% to €19.83).
Conversely, Semapa, Ibersol and NOS fell by 0.74% to €20, 0.52% to €9.64 and 0.29% to €4.81.
Jerónimo Martins and Navigator also saw their share prices fall, by 0.23% to €17.40 and 0.06% to €3.27, respectively.
In Europe, the main stock exchanges opened higher today, with some indices, such as the Madrid index, hitting new highs amid growing hopes that Washington and Tehran will reach a peace agreement imminently.
The euro was stable, up 0.05% against the dollar, trading at $1.1537 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.
The price of the benchmark Brent crude oil contract in Europe rose by 0.95% to $80.11.
Driven by investor optimism over a possible Middle East deal, the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq closed up 1.71% and 2.59% respectively in New York, whilst futures were up 0.21% for the former and 0.14% for the tech index.
The Nasdaq rose, buoyed by Palantir's better-than-expected results, whilst keeping an eye on SpaceX, which fell by almost 8% in after-hours trading on Wall Street following the release of its results.
