Luanda, Aug. 3, 2026 (Lusa) - Business between Angola and China reached $10.8 billion (€9.3 billion) in the first half of the year, half of the total trade for 2025, a source at the Chinese embassy announced on Monday.

According to China's ambassador to Angola, Zhang Bin, trade between the two countries totalled $20.8 billion (€18 billion) in 2025.

«And during the first six months of this year, trade volume has already reached $10.8 billion, and we expect the total volume this year to exceed last year's figure,» the Chinese diplomat said today as he left a meeting with the speaker of the Angolan parliament.

In his meeting with Adão de Almeida, Zhang Bin discussed the «excellent» cooperative relations, and both officials agreed to step up high-level visits between the speakers of the two parliaments, the Chinese diplomat said.

The need to deepen cooperation and exchanges between the specialist committees of the Angolan and Chinese parliaments and to step up the exchange of governance experiences was also discussed at this meeting.

Zhang Bin also highlighted the openness and willingness of Chinese companies and investors to invest in the country: «And recently we have also received delegations of Chinese businesspeople to assess the business environment in Angola, and we have many projects in the pipeline,» he noted.

When asked about the number of visa applications received by the embassy he heads, Bin revealed that between January and June this year, more than 3,000 visas were issued to Angolans visiting his country.

«And this figure shows a remarkable increase compared with the post-pandemic period, which also reflects the rise in the flow of people between our countries,» he concluded.

Angola and China have enjoyed cooperation relations for 43 years. China, which helped rebuild Angola following the civil war, has investments in the sectors of agriculture, mining, finance, trade, processing, industrial estates, property and services.
