Lisbon, July 21, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market is trading higher on Tuesday morning, with BCP leading the gains, rising 1.41% to €1.04.
At around 9.25 am in Lisbon, the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) was up 0.20% at 9,088.56 points, with eight companies rising and the other eight falling.
BCP's shares were followed by those of Teixeira Duarte, CTT and Navigator, which rose by 1.24% to €0.49, 1.13% to €5.82 and 0.51% to €3.18 respectively.
Mota-Engil and EDP Renewables also rose, by 0.35% to €4.54 and 0.26% to €14.03 respectively.
The other two companies in the index were Galp and Ibersol, which rose by 0.26% to €19.35 and 0.11% to €9.13.
Conversely, NOS, Jerónimo Martins and Altri fell by 0.99% to €4.82, 0.66% to €16.56 and 0.64% to €4.64 respectively.
Sonae, Semapa and EDP fell by 0.49% to €2.05, 0.24% to €20.60 and 0.20% to €4.54 respectively.
The other two companies whose share prices fell were Corticeira Amorim (-0.15% to €6.52) and REN (-0.14% to €3.62).
In Europe, the main stock markets opened higher today, awaiting a new provisional ceasefire in the Middle East which caused oil prices to fall slightly, with a barrel reaching $89 once again.
The euro is stronger, rising by 0.07% trading at $1.1422 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market.
Today, the German ZEW Institute will publish its July indices, which measure the perceptions of major investors and analysts regarding the current situation and economic outlook for Germany.
Analysts at Link Securities, quoted by Efe, state that both indices are expected to have improved slightly again in July, although they believe that rising tensions in the Middle East and the latest increases in energy prices will once again affect the indicators in August.
The price of Brent crude oil, the European benchmark, for September delivery, fell by 0.77% to US$88.53.
Conversely, natural gas for August delivery on the Dutch TFF market, the European benchmark, rose by 0.88% to €59.26 per megawatt-hour (MWh).
The price of an ounce of gold rose by 1.56% to $4,070.61, whilst the price of an ounce of silver rose by 4.68% to $59.0649.
Dow Jones and Nasdaq futures, which closed in negative territory on Monday, are up by 0.31% and 1.16% respectively.
