Macau, China, July 13, 2026 (Lusa) - Macau’s gambling revenue for the first half of the year rose by 13.11% compared with the same period in 2025, totalling 51.19 billion patacas (€5.545 billion), the government announced on Monday.
The amount collected between January and June this year corresponds to 55.32% of the gaming revenue forecast in this year’s budget (92.53 billion patacas, €10.02 billion), according to budget implementation data from the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) released today.
Gaming revenue accounted for 87.62% of total current revenue collected, amounting to 58.42 billion patacas (approximately €6.323 billion), with expenditure under this heading already exceeding the total current revenue budget by more than half (52.3%) (111.7 billion patacas, €12.1 billion).
The Macao SAR government also recorded a 2.03% drop in revenue from direct and indirect taxes and duties, including fines and other financial penalties, between 1 January and 30 June this year, collecting a total of 5.33 billion patacas (€577.5 million), compared with 5.44 billion patacas (around €589.7 million) in the same period of 2025.
Revenue collected in the first half of the year accounts for 31.79% of the total forecast for these items in the 2026 Budget.
On the current expenditure side, the Macau government reports a difference of 0.38% between the total of 89.75 billion patacas (€9.72 billion) included in the initial budget and the 89.41 billion (€9.68 billion) actually authorised up to 30 June this year, with expenditure reaching 42.64% of the authorised amount by the end of the first half of the year.
In addition to the authorised current expenditure, the government also allocated a total of 8.1 billion patacas (€881 million) in capital expenditure, resulting in a positive balance – between total revenue and expenditure – of around 13.28 billion patacas (€1.44 billion) between January and June, equivalent to an increase of around 14.66% compared with the expenditure in the corresponding period of 2025 (11.58 billion patacas, €1.25 billion).
