Lisbon, Julu 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed in positive territory on Thursday with the PSI rising by 0.43% to 9,123.98 points, in line with the trend across most European markets, in a session in which Sonae SGPS led the gains.
Of the 16 listed companies that make up the national benchmark index, eight closed in the green and the remaining eight in the red.
Leading the PSI’s gains was Sonae SGPS, which rose 2.65% to 2.13 euros, followed by Jerónimo Martins, which gained 1.79% to 16.47 euros.
Also posting gains of over 1% were Semapa, which rose 1.72% to €20.75, CTT, which gained 1.65% to €5.86, and BCP, which rose 1.47% to €1.04.
Conversely, Teixeira Duarte fell by 2.39% to €0.49, limiting further gains, followed by REN, which lost 1.33% to €3.71.
Also among the companies that recorded more modest gains, EDP, one of the PSI’s ‘heavyweights’, rose by 1% to €4.44, whilst its subsidiary EDP Renováveis rose by 0.07% to €13.75.
Galp Energia, meanwhile, rose by 0.73% to €19.60.
In the other major European markets, Spain’s IBEX-35 rose by 1.14%, France’s CAC-40 advanced by 0.90%, and Germany’s DAX gained 0.89%. The UK’s FTSE 100, however, fell by 0.16%.
