Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Air Invictus attracts a million visitors to Porto region over weekend

Porto, June 21, 2026 (Lusa) - The first edition of Air Invictus, which over the last three days has hosted events in various municipalities across Greater Porto, had an “estimated audience” of around 1 million spectators, the organisers announced on Sunday.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome of this first edition, which drew around 1 million people across five municipalities – Porto, Gaia, Maia, Matosinhos and Espinho,” said the event’s founder, Luís Castro, quoted in a press release.

Sunday's aerial competition ended with a victory for Czech pilot Petr Kopfstein.

“Martin Sonka, champion of the final stage of the Red Bull Air Race in the Douro in 2017, finished in second place, ahead of the two-time Spanish aerobatics champion, Juan Velarde. Dario Costa, holder of several world records, and one of the event’s headliners, finished in fourth place, ahead of François Le Vot, Nicolas Ivanoff and, finally, Daniel Genevey,” the organisers stated.

The programme for this first edition officially concludes on Monday with a “conference dedicated to the future of aviation, aerospace, defence, technological innovation and sustainable air mobility” at the Alfândega Auditorium in Porto.

Over the last three days, 15 events took place, including aerobatics, military flypasts, races over the Douro, music, and exhibitions.
