Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Diesel to fall three cents next week, petrol up one cent

Lisbon, June 12, 2026 (Lusa) - The price of a litre of diesel in Portugal is expected to fall by three cents next week, whilst the price of petrol is set to rise by one cent, according to forecasts from the National Association of Fuel Retailers (Anarec) provided to Lusa.

Based on current figures from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), and taking into account forecasts of changes based on Thursday’s market close, the average price of regular 95 octane petrol is expected to stand at €1.925 per litre from Monday, whilst regular diesel could reach €1.854 per litre.

The final average will be confirmed at the end of the day and may still change depending on the evolution of international oil prices, and the final cost at the pump may vary by petrol station, brand, and location.

The rise in fuel prices in recent months comes amid heightened geopolitical tension in the Middle East, with oil prices under pressure from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and volatility in international markets.

The price of Brent Crude, the European benchmark, for August delivery fell by 1.87% to $88.70, whilst West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the US benchmark for July delivery, fell by 1.87% to $88.70.
