Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Bad Bunny concerts boost Lisbon spending by 8%

Lisbon, June 2, 2026 (Lusa) - Business turnover in Lisbon rose by 8.01% on the days of Bad Bunny’s concerts in the capital last week, according to data released by Unicre, a company specialising in payment solutions.

The company also compared the performance of businesses in Lisbon during the Puerto Rican singer’s concerts with that of Rosalía, who also performed in the capital on 8 and 9 April.

“On the days of Bad Bunny’s concerts, business turnover in the capital rose by 8.01% compared to the same period in 2025, whilst on the days of Rosalía’s shows it fell by 0.79%,” it stated.

Nevertheless, the "number of transactions increased in both cases", with Bad Bunny generating growth of 12.03% and the Spanish singer 1.31%.

"The behaviour of domestic and foreign consumers helps explain the difference between the two periods," said Unicre, noting that "in May, growth was driven mainly by domestic consumers, whose turnover increased by 11.17%, whilst foreign turnover rose by 3.76%. In total, domestic spending accounted for 59.07% of recorded spending".

In April, however, the trend was different, with foreign spending growing by 7.31%, which was not "enough to offset the 5.18% decline recorded in domestic card spending".

According to Unicre, in terms of international spending, “the US and Ireland led foreign turnover in both periods analysed”, with “on the days of Rosalía’s concerts, the US accounted for 15.47% of foreign turnover, followed by Ireland (14.95%) and the UK (10.25%)”.

As for Bad Bunny’s shows, “the US had an even greater share, accounting for 24.33% of foreign turnover, followed by Ireland (17.07%) and Brazil (9.55%)”.

The impact of the concerts was felt most notably in traditional food retail, perfume shops and the hospitality sector, said Unicre.
