Lisbon, May 14, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market was trading higher on Thursday morning, with Navigator leading the gains, rising 1.2% to €3.36.
At around 9.30 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) maintained its opening trend and was up 0.43% at 9,111.52 points, with nine companies rising, three falling and four unchanged (Alti at €4.97, CTT at €6.34, Ibersol at €11.62 and Jerónimo Martins at €19.21).
EDP, BCP and NOS followed Navigator’s shares, rising 0.8% to €4.43, 0.67% to €0.93 and 0.66% to €5.36, respectively.
More modestly, Semapa, Mota-Engil and Galp rose by 0.65% to €23.15, 0.63% to €4.80 and 0.57% to €19.42.
The other two companies gaining ground were Corticeira Amorim (up 0.43% to €7.07) and Teixeira Duarte (up 0.36% to €0.42).
In the opposite direction, Sonae fell by 0.21% to €1.90, as did EDP Renováveis and REN, which dropped by 0.14% to €14.16 and €3.60, respectively.
The main European stock markets opened higher on Thursday morning, awaiting the meeting in Beijing between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
The euro was stable, rising 0.03% to $1.1714 on the Frankfurt foreign stock market.
At 8.45 a.m. in Lisbon, Dow Jones and Nasdaq futures were pointing to gains of 0.3% and 0.42%, respectively.
At the market open, the price of Brent Crude Oil, the European benchmark, for July delivery, rose 0.34% to $105.99.
Natural gas for June delivery on the Dutch TFF market, the European benchmark, fell by 0.13% to €46.86 per megawatt-hour (MWh).
With all eyes on the agreements to be reached at the summit between the US delegation and the Chinese authorities, the release of corporate results continues.
In Spain, the publication of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was highlighted on Thursday morning, which fell by two tenths year-on-year in April to 3.2% due to lower electricity prices and the rise in fuel costs, which was offset by tax cuts the government approved, in force since March.
In addition, the foreign ministers of the expanded BRICS group of emerging economies are meeting on Thursday in New Delhi for the bloc’s first high-level meeting since the start of the war in the Middle East and amid growing tensions between some of its members over the conflict.
