Lisbon, May 7, 2026 (Lusa) – The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Thursday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) retreating 1.43% to 9,134.30 points.
Jeronimo Martins fell more than 5%, following the trend across the rest of Europe.
Of the 16 listed companies in the PSI, 10 dropped, and four rose. EDP and NOS remained unchanged at €4.40 and €5.20, respectively.
Jerónimo Martins led the losses, falling 5.31% to €19.24. On Thursday, Jerónimo Martins, the owner of Pingo Doce, announced that its first-quarter profit fell 6.8% year-on-year to €119 million.
Other significant declines in Thursday's session included EDP Renováveis, which shed 3.68% to €13.87, and Galp, which dropped 2.15% to €18.88. The Navigator Company fell 2.13% to €3.30, Teixeira Duarte lost 2.04% to €0.43, and Altri declined 1.97% to €4.98. REN reduced by 1.20% to €3.70, while Sonae SGPS lowered by 1.12% to €1.94.
REN recorded a profit of €36.2 million in the first quarter of the year, an improvement of €21.8 million compared to the same period last year, the company announced on Thursday.
In 2025, the firm registered €14.4 million in profit during the first three months.
Meanwhile, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) reached €143.2 million, up €14.3 million from the previous year.
On the stock market on Thursday, Mota-Engil (€4.85) and Corticeira Amorim (€7.03) fell by less than 1%.
Conversely, BCP led the gains, rising 1.39% to €0.93.
CTT (€6.36), Ibersol (€12.00), and Semapa (€23.95) all recorded increases of less than 1%.
Across the rest of Europe, London retreated 1.55%, Paris 1.17%, Frankfurt 1.02%, and Madrid 0.24%.
