Former Inter midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi has died at the age of 69, the Milanese club said on Wednesday.
A creative attacking midfielder and playmaker with an eye for goal, Beccalossi played for Inter from 1978 to 1984, helping the Milanese giants win the Serie A title in 1980 and the Italian Cup in 1982, having started out with his hometown club Brescia.
He died at a hospital in Brescia after a long illness following a bad turn he had in January 2025 and a long period in a coma.
"It doesn't seems possible," Inter said on their website.
"In the folds of our memories and in our everyday lives, Evaristo was always one of us.
"Ineffable, like his dribbling, unique, like his way of touching the ball.
"Talent can't be learned.
It's a gift; at most, it's nurtured, with the stubbornness of someone who is right-footed and who, from a young age, trained his left foot in the garage until he became left-footed, ambidextrous, practically omnipotent with both feet.
"Evaristo Beccalossi's talent was clear, dazzling, in contrast to a consistency of performance that sometimes waned during matches but was always forgiven, by his teammates and fans".
