Brussels, May 5, 2026 (Lusa) - In the second half of 2025, Portugal recorded the second-highest domestic gas prices in the European Union (EU) (€17.04 per 100 kWh), expressed in purchasing power parity (PPP), Eurostat announced on Tuesday.
According to the EU’s statistical service, household gas prices, expressed in PPP, stood at €12.28 per 100 kWh, compared with the €11.43 recorded in the first half of 2026 and €12.44 in the same period in 2025.
Among the member states, households in Sweden (€17.16) paid the highest price for gas, including taxes and charges, followed by Portugal (€17.04) and Italy (€15.48), while the lowest values for domestic gas consumption expressed in PPP were observed in Hungary (€4.67), Luxembourg (€6.75) and Slovakia (€7.58).
In absolute terms, the price of gas in the EU stood at €12.28 per kWh, with Portugal in fifth place (€14.05 per kWh), followed by Sweden (€20.92), the Netherlands (€17.19), and Italy (€14.81).
The lowest final gas prices for households were paid in Hungary (€3.35 per 100 kWh), Croatia (€5.43), and Romania (€5.66).
