Lisbon, April 16, 2026 (Lusa) – Lisbon’s stock market closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark index falling 1.21% to 9,232.52 points, dragged by a 3% fall in EDP and a 2% drop in EDP Renovaveis.
Among the 16 companies on the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index), 12 shares fell while four rose in Thursday's session.
EDP shares led the losses as the parent company dropped 3.25% to €4.52 and its subsidiary, EDP Renovaveis, fell 2.13% to €13.80.
These drops followed comments from CEO Miguel Stilwell in a Bloomberg interview, in which he said on Thursday that the utility company suspended three wind projects in the US due to limited policy visibility under the Trump administration.
Other notable falls included Semapa, which fell 2.02% to €21.85, and BCP, which lost 1.93% to €0.89. Sonae shares dropped 1.31% to €1.96, while CTT lost 1.28% to €6.56.
On the winning side, Galp Energia rose 0.72% to €19.46, and Ibersol climbed 0.34% to €11.74, while Altri gained 0.31% to €4.87, and NOS increased 0.27% to €5.51.
The main European bourses closed on Thursday with no defined trend as Paris fell 0.14%, Madrid dropped 0.53%, and Milan lost 0.27%, while London rose 0.29% and Frankfurt gained 0.36%.
