Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes higher, bucking European downtrend

Lisbon, April 9, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Thursday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) rising 0.37% to 9,484.93 points, bucking the downward trend seen across most European markets.

Of the 16 listed companies included in the PSI, seven rose and nine fell. Leading the gains was Ibersol, which rose 3.12% to €11.24, followed by EDP, which gained 1.75% to €4.76, and REN, which rose 1.56% to €3.90.

EDP Renováveis also performed strongly among the national index’s gainers, rising 1.14% to €14.22, whilst CTT shares climbed 1.12% to €6.80 and Sonae rose 0.25% to €2.03.

In the opposite direction, among the fallers were Teixeira Duarte, which fell 2.11% to €0.46, Altri, which lost 1.11% to €4.91, and Semapa, which dropped 0.88% to €22.65.

Elsewhere in Europe, Frankfurt fell by 1.14%, Paris by 0.22%, Madrid by 0.15% and London by 0.05%.
