TIRANA, April 8/ATA/ As spring arrives, Kruja becomes an unmissable destination, offering a blend of rich history and stunning natural scenery. The warm, clear weather is ideal for exploring the bustling bazaar, the prestigious Skanderbeg Museum and the captivating Ethnographic Museum, making it a highlight for visitors worldwide.
Tourists from Spain and America have explored Kruja's castle and bazaar, documenting Albanian history through photography, artisan workshops, and stories of Skanderbeg.
Director of the Museum Mehdi Hafizi said in an interview for ATA that while daily visitor numbers remain high, we anticipate a further surge in the coming months, with peaks expected during the spring and autumn.
“During this first quarter of 2026, Kruja has welcomed over 16 thousand visitors. Although these are the first months of the year, the trend is quite promising”, said Hafizi.
According to Hafizi, Kruja’s high tourism figures are driven by its strategic location, specifically its proximity to Tirana, the 'Mother Teresa' International Airport, the port of Durrës, and other coastal cities.
Hafizi noted that 2025 was a record-breaking year with 212,000 visitors—a three-to-fourfold increase over previous years. September stood out as the peak month, attracting 32,000 visitors alone.
At the Kruja Museum, Hungarian tourist Marck Arady shared with ATA that after a four-day tour of Albania—including a beach day in Durres—his family chose to explore the historic sites of Kruja.
“We are absolutely enchanted by Kruja. After exploring the profound history at the Kruja Museum, we spent the afternoon strolling through the charming Old Bazaar, taking in every detail. The locals are incredibly welcoming, the scenery is breathtaking, and the history here is truly unique. We will definitely be back,” he said.
An American tourist, Joanna Allen, visiting with a large group, expressed her admiration for Albania's history and culture, adding that she found the people incredibly hospitable and the food amazing.
As a premier destination for history and culture, Kruja remains an unforgettable stop. /p.s./
