Lusa - Business News - Portugal: House prices see second-highest annual rise in EU in Q4 2025

Brussels, April 7, 2026 (Lusa) - House prices in Portugal rose 18.9% in the fourth quarter of 2025 year-on-year, the second-highest increase among European Union (EU) countries, Eurostat (the EU’s statistical office) announced on Tuesday.

Eurostat published data on Tuesday showing the largest annual house price increases in the fourth quarter of 2025 occurred in Hungary (+21.2%), Portugal (+18.9%) and Croatia (+16.1%).

In the euro area, house prices, as measured by the House Price Index, increased by 5.1%. Across the 27 EU member states, prices rose 5.5% compared to the same quarter in 2024.

Finland recorded the only annual decrease among EU countries (-3.1%).

Data for Greece is unavailable.

Compared to the third quarter of 2025, house prices increased 0.6% in the euro area and 0.8% in the EU during the final three months of 2025.

Slovenia (5.1%), Hungary (4.2%) and Portugal (4.0%) recorded the largest increases compared to the previous quarter. Conversely, house prices fell in France (0.7%), Finland (0.5%) and Estonia (0.3%).
