Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes higher with BCP, Mota-Engil rising over 2%

Lisbon, March 31, 2026 (Lusa) – The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Tuesday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) rising 0.68% to 9,131.56 points as BCP and Mota-Engil rose more than 2%. Of the 16 companies on the national benchmark index, 11 ended in positive territory, four fell, and Ibersol remained unchanged at €10.80. BCP led the PSI gains, with its shares climbing 2.49% to €0.83, followed by construction company Mota-Engil, which rose 2.03% to €4.43.

Gains exceeding 1% also included CTT, which rose 1.86% to €6.03, Semapa, which climbed 1.37% to €22.20, and Jerónimo Martins, which gained 1.18% to €20.56.

Conversely, two energy sector companies limited the index's gains: REN fell 0.40% to €3.73, and Galp Energia dropped 0.28% to €21.01. The Lisbon market followed the sentiment of other major European bourses on a day when France's CAC-40 rose 0.57%, Germany's DAX added 0.52%, Britain's FTSE 100 advanced 0.48%, and Spain's IBEX-35 gained 0.47%.
