Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market follows Europe trend with sharp upturn, EDPR leading

Lisbon, March 25, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher this Wednesday, with the PSI (Portuguese Stock Index) rising 1.49% to 9,014.42 points, following main European bourses as EDP Renovaveis led gains.

Only three of the 16 companies on the national benchmark index closed in negative territory, with the rest making gains.

EDP Renováveis led the benchmark index gains, rising 4.55% to €13.55, while its parent company advanced 1.96% to €4.41.

Among the heavyweights, BCP rose 2.58% to €0.83 cents per share, while Jerónimo Martins gained 1.49% to €20.46.

Companies with gains of more than 1% included the construction firm Mota-Engil, which rose 2.06% to €4.36, as well as three firms in the pulp and paper sector: Navigator up 2.96% to €3.27, Semapa up 2.34% to €21.85 and Altri up 1.71% to €4.76.     In contrast, three companies closed in the red, including Nos, which fell 1.13% to €5.26.

The Lisbon stock market followed the sentiment in other main European bourses on a day Spain's IBEX-35 rose 1.54%, the UK's FTSE 100 gained 1.42%, Germany's DAX rose 1.41% and France's CAC-40 gained 1.33%.
