Lisbon, March 20, 2026 (Lusa) - Fuel prices in Portugal are going to continue to grow next week, with diesel rising by approximately 15 cents per litre, exceeding two euros, and 95-octane petrol increasing by nine cents.
The National Association of Fuel Retailers (ANAREC) provided Lusa with the predictions for price increases, already including VAT (Value Added Tax).
Based on current data from the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) and taking into account predicted increases, from Monday onwards, the average price of 95 octane petrol is expected to stand at €1.947 per litre, while regular diesel could reach €2.077 per litre.
The final average will be determined by the end of the day and may still change as international oil prices evolve. The final cost at the pump may vary depending on the petrol station, brand, and location.
Furthermore, extraordinary cuts to the ISP (Fuel Tax), which the government approves if price hikes exceed 10 cents, could potentially lower these forecasted values.
This marks the third consecutive week of price increases, amid intense geopolitical tension in the Middle East, with oil prices under pressure from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and volatility in international markets.
