Lisbon, March 18, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Portuguese Stock Index (the PSI) falling 0.44% to 9,134.62 points, driven by losses in energy and retail, as EDP fell 2.02%.
Of the 16 listed companies, only five ended in the green, 10 in negative territory and one unchanged (Ibersol at €10.80 a share).
The PSI followed the general European trend, as Germany's DAX fell 0.96%, London's FTSE 100 dropped 0.94%, Milan's FTSE MIB regressed 0.33% and Paris's CAC 40 fell 0.06%. Only Madrid's IBEX 35 gained 0.29%.
Contributing to the PSI’s decline were EDP, falling 2.02% to €4.36, EDP Renováveis, down 1.98% to €13.37, Jerónimo Martins, which fell 1.55% to €21.54, Mota-Engil, which regressed 1.50% to €4.35, NOS, which fell 1.11% to €5.35, and Sonae, which dropped 1.02% to €1.95.
Companies with drops below 1% included Semapa (0.70% to €21.04), Teixeira Duarte (0.68% to €0.44), Navigator (0.61% to €3.62) and CTT (0.30% to €6.68).
Gains above 1% were seen by BCP, which rose 2.64% to €0.82, and Altri, which gained 1.42% to €4.63.
With gains below 1% were Galp, which advanced 0.80% to €21.35, REN, which gained 0.52% to €3.88, and Corticeira Amorim, which rose 0.16% to €6.34.
