Lisbon, March 4, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Wednesday, with the PSI index rising 0.79% to 8,931.27 points, with NOS standing out with a gain of more than 7%.
Of the 16 companies listed on the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index), nine rose, five fell, and Semapa and CTT remained unchanged at €22.05 and €6.80, respectively.
Leading the gains was telecoms operator NOS, which released its results on Tuesday after the market closed, rising 7.60% to €5.38.
NOS's profit fell 9.6% last year compared to 2024, to €245.9 million, due to lower non-recurring results in 2025, the telecommunications operator announced on Tuesday.
Consolidated earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) "improved 4.3% compared to 2024, to €813.5 million".
In today's stock market session, other major gains included BCP, which rose 2.85% to €0.85, Mota-Engil, which rose 2.03% to €4.72, Teixeira Duarte, which rose 1.47% to €0.48, Ibersol, which rose 1.40% to €10.85, and EDP Renováveis, which rose 1.27% to €12.73.
Sonae SGPS (€1.93), REN (€3.70) and EDP (€4.26) rose by less than 1%.
In the opposite direction, Galp led the declines, falling 3.63% to €18.73, followed by Navigator, which fell 1.02% to €3.29.
Declines of less than 1% were seen in Corticeira Amorim (€6.40), Altri (€4.59) and Jerónimo Martins (€21.36).
Elsewhere in Europe, Madrid rose 2.49%, Frankfurt 1.74%, London 0.80% and Paris 0.79%.
