Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market on the rise on Friday morning with EDPR up almost 3%

Lisbon, Feb. 27, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market is trading higher on Friday morning, with the PSI rising to a new high since June 2008 and EDP Renováveis gaining 2.82% to €13.51.

At around 9:45 a.m. in Lisbon, the benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index) was holding its opening trend and rising 0.55% to 9,316.68 points, a new high since June 2008, with eight companies rising, seven falling and one maintaining its price (Navigator at €3.46).

EDP Renováveis shares were followed by Ibersol, EDP and Teixeira Duarte, which were up by 1.74% to €11.70, 1.52% to €4.46 and 0.78% to €0.52.

Sonae and REN shares were rising by 0.74% to €2.03 and 0.52% to €3.84.

Following the same trend, Corticeira Amorim and NOS shares were up by 0.29% to €6.82 and 0.20% to €5.12.

In contrast, Mota-Engil, BCP and Semapa shares were falling by 0.57% to €5.20, 0.45% to €0.92 and 0.41% to €24.15.

Galp and CTT shares were down by 0.33% to €18.23 and 0.28% to €7.19, and the other two shares that also fell in value were Jerónimo Martins (-0.27% to €22.02) and Altri (-0.10% to €4.89).

The main European stock markets were up today, but hesitant, after Nvidia's 5.5% drop on Thursday, while corporate results continue to be published, and attentive to the geopolitical situation between Iran and the US.

The markets are watching the situation between Iran and the US closely after Donald Trump gave Tehran until the beginning of March to reach an agreement on its nuclear programme on Thursday, meaning that military intervention cannot be ruled out if no agreement is reached.

This has already led to an increase in the price of oil, which is moderate for the time being.

New York futures are currently pointing to falls of 0.41% for the Dow Jones and 0.10% for the Nasdaq.

Among today's relevant data, it was announced that in Spain, year-on-year inflation remained at 2.3% in February, the same rate as the previous month.

The German CPI, which will be released at 13:00 in Lisbon, is crucial today for the stock markets and for the ECB's future monetary policy decisions.

This session continues with a barrage of corporate results, including those of International Airlines Group (IAG) and technology services provider Amadeus, which posted record profits in 2025.

As for precious metals, gold is stable, with an ounce trading at US$5,179.00, as is silver, which rose slightly to US$89.5994 per ounce.

The euro is stronger, rising to US$1.1806 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, compared with US$1.1797 on Thursday and US$1.1980 on 27 January, a new high since June 2021.
