Lisbon, Feb. 25, 2026 (Lusa) - BTL, considered the largest showcase for the tourism sector in Portugal, begins at FIL in Lisbon on Wednesday, with the organisers betting on a record edition, estimating more visitors, greater economic impact and more internationalisation.
In addition, this year's event also aims to play an active role in helping regions recover after the storms.
"Expectations for BTL 2026 are very positive, with a record edition expected, not only in terms of size, but also in terms of economic impact and internationalisation. The fair is set to be the largest ever, with the opening of a fifth pavilion, a stronger international presence and a clear focus on innovation and the visitor experience," said BTL coordinator Dália Palma in a written response to Lusa on Tuesday.
The 36th edition of Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market (BTL), which in 2025 received around 82,000 visitors, runs until 1 March, with the first two days dedicated to professionals and the rest open to the general public.
The 2026 edition will see the debut of Pavilion 5, bringing the total number of exhibitors to over 1,700 spread over approximately 60,000 m².
Figueira da Foz is the guest municipality for this edition of BTL.
"The choice of Figueira da Foz naturally takes on added significance in this context, reinforcing BTL's mission as a platform for promoting the region. Its presence as a guest municipality represents a strategic opportunity to highlight the destination's resilience, promote its tourist offer and reinforce its profile among professionals, international markets and the end public," explained Dália Palma.
The Algarve Tourism Region is the national guest destination, and Brazil is the international guest destination.
