LisboN, Feb. 23, 2026 (Lusa) - Traffic on the Beira Baixa, Douro, Oeste and Coimbra Urban railway lines continues to be restricted or suspended on some sections on Monday, almost a month after Storm Kristin swept across the continent.
In a note posted on Facebook, CP - Comboios de Portugal reports that, due to the bad weather in recent weeks, traffic on the Beira Baixa line remains suspended, with only regional trains running between Castelo Branco and Guarda and between Entroncamento and Abrantes.
Rail traffic also remains suspended on the Douro Lines, between Régua and Pocinho, and on the Oeste Line.
Coimbra Urban trains are running on the Coimbra-B - Alfarelos - Coimbra-B route.
Eighteen people died in Portugal as a result of the Kristin (on 28 January), Leonardo and Marta storms, which also left many hundreds injured and homeless.
The total or partial destruction of homes, businesses and equipment, the fall of trees and structures, the closure of roads, schools and transport services, and the cutting off of power, water and communications, floods and inundations are the main material consequences of the storm.
The Central, Lisbon and Tagus Valley and Alentejo regions were the most affected.
The state of emergency covering the 68 most affected municipalities ended on 15 February.
