Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stocks trading higher, with PSI above 9,000 points

Lisbon, 16 fev 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market traded higher on Monday, with the PSI above 9,000 points and Altri and BCP shares rising 1.57% to €4.86 and 1.51% to €0.87.

At around 9:25 a.m. in Lisbon, the PSI reversed the opening trend and rose 0.34% to 9,029.70 points, with eight stocks rising, six falling and two remaining unchanged (Ibersol at €11.25 and Semapa at €23.45).

Altri and BCP shares were followed by Jerónimo Martins, Mota-Engil and Navigator, which also rose, 0.75% to €21.40, 0.40% to €4.97 and 0.35% to €3.40, respectively.

Following the same trend, Sonae, Corticeira Amorim and Galp shares rose 0.31% to €1.92, 0.28% to €7.04 and 0.06% to €17.70.

In contrast, EDP, Teixeira Duarte and EDP Renováveis shares fell 0.84% to €4.25, 0.76% to €0.52 and 0.75% to €13.26.

The other three shares that lost value were NOS (-0.52% to €4.82), CTT (-0.42% to €7.12) and REN (-0.40% to €3.74).

The main European stock markets were up slightly today, in a session with likely low trading volume, as they lack the reference provided by the Chinese and Wall Street markets due to holidays.

The Chinese markets, including the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Seoul stock exchanges, are not trading today because of the start of the Lunar New Year, and Wall Street will not open due to Presidents' Day.

In the eurozone, industrial production data will be released today.

Wall Street closed mixed last Friday with the main indicator, the Dow Jones, rising 0.10% but below 50,000 points and the Nasdaq technology index falling 0.22%.

As for precious metals, gold and silver fell 0.29% and 1.03%, respectively.

In the commodities market, Brent, the benchmark crude oil in Europe, for April delivery, fell to £67.62, compared to £67.75 in the previous session.

The euro fell to $1.1863 on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, compared to $1.1868 on Friday and $1.1980 on 27 January, a new high since June 2021.
