CNA - Cyprus had highest annual GDP growth rate in Q4 2025, Eurostat says

Cyprus highest annual performance in GDP growth rate among the Member States for which data are available in the fourth quarter of 2025 on an annual basis, data released by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) on Friday show.

Cyprus recorded a growth rate of 1.4% in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in volume terms in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the third quarter of the same year.

Compared with the corresponding quarter of 2024, Cyprus registered an increase of 4.5%, marking the highest annual performance among the Member States for which data are available.

In the euro area, seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the previous quarter, while a corresponding increase of 0.3% was recorded in the EU. In the third quarter of 2025, GDP had increased by 0.3% in the euro area and by 0.4% in the EU.

According to Eurostat, on an annual basis, GDP increased by 1.3% in the euro area and by 1.5% in the EU in the fourth quarter of 2025, following increases of 1.4% and 1.6% respectively in the previous quarter. For the whole of 2025, the annual growth estimate, based on seasonally and calendar-adjusted quarterly data, shows an increase of 1.5% in the euro area and 1.6% in the EU.

As regards employment, the number of employed persons increased by 0.2% in both the euro area and the EU in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the previous quarter. In the third quarter of 2025, employment had increased by 0.2% in the euro area and by 0.1% in the EU.

Compared with the corresponding quarter of 2024, employment increased by 0.6% in the euro area and by 0.7% in the EU in the fourth quarter of 2025, following increases of 0.6% and 0.5% respectively in the third quarter. For the whole of 2025, employment is estimated to have increased by 0.7% in the euro area and by 0.5% in the EU.
