Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market closes with benchmark up 1.27%, Mota-Engil up over 4%

Lisbon, Feb. 6, 2026 (Lusa) - The Lisbon stock market closed higher on Friday, with the PSI rising 1.27% to 8,890.30 points, following the trend of the other major European markets and driven by gains of more than 4% by civil engineering and construction group Mota-Engil.

The benchmark PSI (Portuguese Share Index) includes 16 companies, of which 13 were in positive territory, two were unchanged and only one was in the red.

Leading the PSI's gains was Mota-Engil, whose shares rose 4.71% to €4.85, followed by Ibersol, which rose 3.27% to €11.05.

Among the index heavyweights, Galp Energia rose 3.17% to €17.55, while BCP bank gained 1.74% to 91 cents.

EDP Renováveis rose 1.54% to €13.20, while its parent company EDP gained 1.12% to €4.33.

Teixeira Duarte also posted gains of over 1% rising 2.05% to 50 cents per share, as did CTT, which gained 1.39% to €7.31, and Nos, which rose 1.10% to €4.61.

In contrast, Navigator was the only listed company to close in negative territory, losing 0.31% to €3.25.

In the other main European markets, Spain's IBEX-35 rose 1.11%, Germany's DAX added 0.94%, Britain's FTSE 100 gained 0.59% and France's CAC-40 rose 0.43%, one day after the European Central Bank decided to keep interest rates at 2%.
