Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Tech group Coreflux developing AI projects for industrial internet of things![]()
Lisbon, May 26, 2023 (Lusa) - Portuguese technology company Coreflux has two "major projects" of artificial intelligence (AI), the digital workers Anselmo and Graham Bell, and is already working on a third "more ambitious", co-founder Paulo Mota told Lusa. The launch of these AI-based projects takes place on Friday at an event at the Rectory of the Nova University of Lisbon. "Currently, we have two major artificial intelligence projects, both in the 'digital workers' category, and a third more ambitious one, still under development," he added. The Anselmo project "is the most capable version of our digital workers, whose functionality includes the interpretation of industrial workflows and the automatic generation of code to create applications that respond to these requirements", he explained. For example, in a situation where an operator needs a 6-axis robot (robotic arm) to perform a function, "this is described in natural language, by text or voice, and our digital worker generates the corresponding necessary code and integrates it directly in the machine, which is then able to start producing according to the rules, instructions and limits assigned to it", describes Paulo Mota. Meanwhile, the latest Coreflux digital worker is called Graham Bell and is a virtual assistant that lives in the Discord community, "being specifically designed to act as a technical expert and thus support the community of internal and external Coreflux integrators", he said. Paulo Mota adds that "this is an innovative tool in the industry, as far as we can ascertain the first implementation of its kind, working together with the user through natural language in a process of co-creation of Coreflux solutions, customized to the specific details of their needs". Graham Bell "is able to interact in real time, answering questions, providing technical support, preparing technical configurations, and advising on the best solutions for different scenarios" and "very soon, a more advanced version of this will be the front page of our new website, interacting with visitors towards the solution they are looking for", he said. The co-founder of Coreflux guarantees that the technology has "a growing demand" for this version to be implemented "in multiple industries that directly benefit from customised and specialised support". Regarding the third project based on AI, "we expect to reveal more news soon, but we can only advance that we have been actively challenging the frontiers of current technologies with new perspectives, in order to bring national innovation solutions to the market", he added. As for the project's initial investment, Paulo Mota said that "it came from own capital, validated by the volume of sales and degree of implementation" that Coreflux already had in the market. "It was following this that a group of investors associated themselves to this venture who prefer to remain 'silent'" and who "advanced with an initial investment plan of around two million euros, towards the realisation of a project defined with an international scope," he said. The technology is dedicated to the areas of the Industrial Internet of Things - (IIoT) - and Data and "emerged as a result of more than two decades of experience in the industry, in some of its most demanding aspects". Without giving any figures, Paulo Mota explains that "a first phase of hiring procedures for team growth is already underway, as well as an internationalisation process supported by the creation of company branches in strategic geographic points, with the formation of local teams". "In the short/medium term we plan to hire a team of 25 people", with the objective of "reinforcing product and brand development capacities, promoting innovation and boosting the export of top national engineering solutions", he said. In parallel, "we also have four internal digital workers, in charge of the automated management of projects and documental processes", and "to each of these virtual elements we attribute names and narratives of their own, thus enhancing a greater involvement of the team in the maintenance and evolution of their capabilities", he reported. For Coreflux, Portugal "is, above all, the development and validation laboratory of the product", but it has international expansion plans. "We currently have exploratory talks to consolidate working bases in North America (United States), South America (Brazil), Europe (Spain, Germany, Poland) and Asia (Singapore)," detailed Paulo Mota. Besides, "it is obviously with pride that, in some of these countries, we see the initiative to contact local companies, having seen our brand appear recurrently in stand-alone solutions implemented and working", he concluded.
