Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Stock market still down with Altri falling 3.81%![]()
Lisbon,March.24,2023(Lusa)-The Lisbon stock exchange was trading down on Friday, maintaining the opening trend, with the 16 shares of the PSI down, led by those of Altri, which depreciated 3.81% to €4.59. Around 08:55 in Lisbon, the PSI, which since Monday includes Ibersol, fell 1.80% to 5,697.84 points, with the price of the 16 companies falling. On Thursday, Altri announced in a statement that it recorded net results from continuing operations of €152.1 million in 2022, an increase of 23% year-on-year. "The financial performance of the Altri group was influenced by the volume of fibre production, the evolution of sales, but mainly by the rise in prices on international markets," the company advanced, adding that "total revenues, which include other income, reached €1.07 billion, a growth of 34.4% compared to 2021." Altri's shares were followed by those of CTT, BCP and Greenvolt, which were down 2.70% to €3.43, 2.50% to €0.19 and 2.29% to €6.41. Shares in Sonae, Galp and Mota-Engil were down 1.86% to €0.98, 1.80% to €9.83 and 1.70% to €1.50. Shares in Navigator, EDP Renováveis and Semapa were down 1.53% to €3.23, 1.09% to €19.88, 1.05% to €13.24 and 1.05% to €13.24. NOS shares were down 1.04% to €4.17. The other five shares that were depreciating recorded share price decreases of between 0.10% and 0.94%. The main European stock markets were also trading lower, awaiting the publication of the March PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) in the Eurozone. Banks continue to be the focus of the market after the crisis in the sector in the USA and Europe, in a week that was also marked by central bank decisions. On the other side of the Atlantic, Wall Street managed to end in the green, while in Asia, the trend was negative. The main Wall Street indicators point to a green start to the day, while in Europe, where the euro has fallen, the stock markets are down in the early stages of the session. Today, the market will be waiting for the release of the March advance PMIs in the Eurozone, which according to Renta4 analysts, cited by Efe, will be used to check whether the manufacturing sector remains in recession or continues to improve to return to expansionary territory, while they expect the services sector to remain in the expansionary zone. In Spain, it was announced that the economy grew by 5.5% in 2022. On Thursday, the New York Stock Exchange ended higher, with the Dow Jones up 0.23% to 32,105.25 points, against the high since it was created in 1896 of 36,799.65 points recorded on 4 January 2022. The Nasdaq closed up 1.01% to 11,787.40 points, against the current high of 16,057.44 points, recorded on 16 November 2021. On the foreign exchange front, the euro opened lower on the Frankfurt foreign exchange market, trading at $1.0794, down from $1.0869 on Thursday and $1.0909 on 2 February, a high since April 2022. The euro has been trading above parity against the dollar since 7 November, after having been below parity since 20 September, except for 26 October ($1.0076). Brent crude for May delivery opened lower on London's Intercontinental Exchange Futures (ICE) at $75.64, down from $75.91 on Thursday and $72.97 on 17 March, a low since January 2022. MC/ADB // ADB.
