Lisbon, June 21,2021(Lusa) - Portugal's Ministry of Agriculture will increase the Community budget allocation by €4 million for projects submitted as part of the competition to support the promotion of wines, the Ministry said in a statement.
According to the government, this support for promotion is intended for third-country markets.

The Ministry also revealed that April 2021 registered, similarly to March, a very positive behaviour for national exports in volume, value and average price, concluding the month with +28.6%, +31.4% and +2.2% respectively," according to the note, which adds that, in comparison with April 2020, Portugal registered an increase of 27.6% in volume, 30.7% in value and 2.4% in average price.
According to the Ministry, the most significant contributors to this positive impact were the markets of the United States, France and Germany, while also highlighting the markets of Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland, which recorded growth in sales, in value and average price.
Agriculture minister Maria do Céu Antunes, quoted in the same statement, said that the promotion of Portugal's wines in third-country markets has been fundamental to the positive performance of exports, including in the context of the pandemic, with the performance of certified wine exports in April, according to the latest data from INE, being noteworthy.
