Lusa - Business News - Guinea-Bissau: TGB channel signal to reach whole country from July - TV boss

Bissau,June.21,2021(Lusa)- People everywhere in Guinea-Bissau will from next month be able to receive the signal of Televisão da Guiné-Bissau (TGB) for the first time in decades, the West African country's public television channel, its director-general, Amadu Jamanca, announced on Monoday.
"That is our will, that is our mission," Jamanca said. "Once the equipment arrives: a good part of it is already in Bissau."
According to the TGB chief, it will be possible to transmit to the entire nation following a technical study that concluded that Bafatá is "geographically on a higher surface" and a transmitter centre is being installed in that city.
"We will have the Nhacra transmitter centre with greater power that will reach Bafatá, which will pass to Gabu, and transmit to that entire area," he explained. "In the south, the Catió transmitter center will also have a better signal."
Since a series of political and military conflicts began in 1998, it has not been possible to watch the television channel throughout the country.
Jamanca also said that the broadcaster would open a TGB branch office in Bafatá, and expects to open others in other regions.
