Lusa - Business News - Portugal: GDP 77% of EU average, consumption 85% in purchasing power




Brussels,June.21,2021(Lusa)-Portugal recorded in 2020 a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 77% of the EU average and a real individual consumption of 85% of the European Union (EU) average, expressed in purchasing power parity (PPP), according to Eurostat.

According to the European statistics office, Luxembourg (266%), Ireland (211%), and Denmark (136%) are the countries with the highest GDP levels expressed in PPP, and Bulgaria (55%), Greece and Croatia (64% each) the lowest.

The highest real individual consumption in PPS was observed in Luxembourg (131% of the EU average), followed by Germany (123%) and Denmark (121%), with Bulgaria (61%), Croatia (67%) and Hungary (69%) at the other end of the table.

The euro area registered 105% GDP and consumption in PPP.
