ATA - COVID-19/ Ministry of Health: 23 new cases and 28 cured ones in last 24 hours

TIRANA,May 29/ATA/-In the last 24 hours, 276 citizens suspected of infected with COVID-19 have been tested of whom 23 cases have turned out to be positive, 12 in Tirana, 8 are contacts of previous positive cases and 4 new cases in process of investigation.

Dr. Eugena Tomini from the Institute of Public Health announced that as part of in-depth epidemiological investigation at the University Hospital Center of Tirana, 57 health personnel and patients were tested and all of them were negative.

According to Tomini, 6 cases have been confirmed in Mat, contacts of a patient treated in University Hospital Centre of Tirana and 4 cases in Lushnje, contacts of positive cases confirmed earlier in Tirana and 1 new case in Durrës.

“At the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 23 patients are currently being treated, 5 of whom are in intensive care unit. In the last 24 hours, 28 citizens have recovered, bringing the number of cured cases to 851 since the outbreak of the epidemic, ” she said.
Since the epidemic outbreak, more than 15,500 molecular and serological tests have been performed, while the number of confirmed positive cases across the country is 1,099. Of these, over 77% are cured cases.

In our country, Tomini said, presently there are 215 persons infected with COVID-19, mainly in Tirana.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection appeals to citizens to be careful. It is advisable to maintain a physical distance of over 1.5 meters. When physical distance is impossible, the use of a mask is necessary. It is advisable to adhere to the respiratory etiquette.
