ATA - Tirana Film Commission launched to promote city as convenient filming location for local, international cinematography productions

TIRANA, May 23 /ATA/ – Good news is coming for all Albanian filmmakers and artists as the Tirana Film Commission has recently opened in the Albanian capital.

The initiative is supported by the Municipality of Tirana and it is aimed at promoting the city as a convenient and attractive filming location for shooting of a films or other television productions in a real-world setting.

It aims to promote the Albanian Region and its administrative capital Tirana in order to attract TV and cinema productions from Europe and abroad.

Tirana Film Commission will be a first-stop contact for permit requests to shoot in Tirana and Albania and assists in problem solving related to the pre-production phase facilitating the work of the film crew during the film production.

Tirana Film Commission was set to be launched at Cannes Festival earlier this month, but the launching ceremony was postponed as the international film festival was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the same time, the Commission aims at sustaining the local film-making industry by creating new opportunities for Albanian residents who work in the TV and cinema sector. Also, 1/10 of the world’s tourism is influenced by the film industry, as evidenced by Croatia’s growing tourism after several Game of Thrones scenes were shot.

Tirana joins other cities across Europe, inviting film productions to their cities. Under the slogan “After making Tirana camera ready, now Tirana is ready to roll” do not be surprised if a scene in the 5th season of “Casa de Papel” is shot in Tirana.
