Lusa - Business News - Portugal: TAP hopes to up total weekly flights from 27 in June to 247 in July

Lisbon,May 25,2020(Lusa)–On Monday, TAP published its flight plan for the next two months which involves 27 weekly flights in June and 247 in July, most of which are from Lisbon, according to data released by the airline.
Throughout this month and as some of the restrictions imposed on airlines were lifted, TAP has been adding flights, notably to London and Paris, between Porto and Lisbon, two flights a week to Sao Paulo and a weekly flight to Rio de Janeiro, with the result that TAP's operation at the end of May will be 18 flights a week.
In June, according to the same plan, the airline plans to return to operate more intercontinental flights, including two per week to New York (Newark), one to Luanda, from the 15th, and another to Maputo. In Portugal, connections between Lisbon and Madeira will become daily, and by the end of June TAP will have 27 weekly flights.
In July, the carrier expects to increase connections significantly, albeit by a long way from the 3 000 weekly flights it registered before the pandemic.
Thus, in July the airline's plan is for 247 flights per week, a figure close to 19% of its normal operation, TAP reports. European flights will be resumed from the current two destinations (London and Paris) to a total of 21, with intercontinental flights increasing to Brazil, with the return of flights to Recife and Fortaleza.
The routes to North America will also be increased, where the operation to Boston and Miami will be resumed, as well as to Toronto, with connections to Praia, São Vicente and Dakar to be resumed.
Direct connections from Porto to Paris, Luxembourg and Madeira will also be resumed, in the latter case Madeira will have two connections a day to Lisbon and two flights a week to Porto, and connections to Porto Santo (from Lisbon) will also be resumed, with two flights a week.
To the Azores, TAP will operate daily flights between Ponta Delgada and Lisbon and there will be an increase to three flights a week from Terceira. Faro will have two flights a day to Lisbon, TAP said.
The airline already has the information available on its website, warning that these routes may change if circumstances so require.
