أدانت الحكومة القبرصية عمليات الحفر غير القانونية التي خططت لها تركيا مؤخراً داخل المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة والجرف القاري لجمهورية قبرص.

وأشارت رئاسة الجمهورية في بيان صادر اليوم الأحد، حول الأنشطة غير القانونية لتركيا داخل المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة لقبرص، إلى أن تركيا تتجاهل بشكل استفزازي النداءات المتكررة من المجتمع الدولي والاتحاد الأوروبي، لإنهاء أنشطتها غير القانونية في المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة لقبرص، وأنها تحاول الآن إجراء "تنقيبات غير قانونية جديدة في المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة والجرف القاري الجنوبي لقبرص، داخل الرقعة 8، التي تم ترخيصها حسب الأصول لشركتي ايني وتوتال الأوروبيتين.

وقالت الحكومة إن محاولة الحفر الجديدة هذه تعتبر انتهاكاً آخر صارخاً للحقوق السيادية لجمهورية قبرص بموجب اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار، فضلاً عن القانون الدولي العرفي ذي الصلة وتتجاهل تماماً اتفاقات ترسيم حدود المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة التي تمت بالفعل بين قبرص وإسرائيل وقبرص ومصر".

وأضافت أن تركيا "تتحول إلى دولة تقوم بأعمال قرصنة في شرق البحر المتوسط". على عكس التآزر الناشئ في مجال الطاقة في المنطقة، "الذي تم اثباته بإنشاء منتدى غاز شرق البحر الأبيض المتوسط في القاهرة منذ ثلاثة أيام، بالإضافة إلى توقيع اتفاقية خط انابيب شرق البحر المتوسط في أثينا قبل أسبوعين، إن تركيا مصرة على السير في طريق اللاشرعية الدولية الذي اختارته لنفسها".

وتابع البيان بالقول "إنه لمن السخرية أن تركيا تمارس نشاطها غير القانوني بشكل صارخ في المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة / الجرف القاري لجمهورية قبرص بزعم أنها تعمل بهدف حماية حقوق القبارصة الأتراك، بينما تدعي في نفس الوقت لنفسها نسبة 44% من المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة، على حساب الحقوق القانونية لجميع القبارصة ".

وخلص البيان بأن "أي ادعاءات بأن الحفر المخطط إجراؤه لصالح القبارصة الأتراك لا أساس له من الصحة وأن أي ترخيص "مزعوم من قبل ما يسمى بـ" جمهورية شمال قبرص" غير قانوني وباطل، وفقاً لقرارات مجلس الأمن الدولي ذات الصلة. وأن مصالح القبارصة الأتراك مصونة بالكامل من خلال التسوية الشاملة المستمرة لمشكلة قبرص، كما تم توثيقه من خلال التقاربات التي تمت حول ذلك على طاولة المفاوضات وكذلك من خلال المقترحات التي قدمها رئيس الجمهورية".
