Lusa - Business News - Angola: Agogo Field produces 10,000 barrels of oil a day
Luanda, Jan.17,2020 (Lusa)-Angola's oil regulator and Italian ENI have said that the Agogo field has started operating, representing an increase of 10,000 barrels of oil production per day, which could reach 20,000. "The National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency, as the national concessionaire, the Italian operator ENI and partners announced the start of oil production at the Agogo offshore field, located in Block 15/06 in Angola, nine months after its discovery," according to a statement released on Thursday in Luanda. The note added that the start came with the drilling of the Agogo-1 well at a water depth of approximately 1,700 meters, with a flow of about 10,000 barrels a day, with the projection of reaching 20,000 barrels in the coming months. "It is estimated that the field contains reserves in the order of 650 million barrels of oil, with additional potential that can be verified after the drilling of new delimitation wells," the text said. Starting in the second half of 2018, ENI Angola and the partners of the contractor group (Sonangol and SSI Fifteen) launched a new research campaign in Block 15/06, leading to the discovery of five new reservoirs that, according to preliminary studies, contain about 2 billion barrels of oil, the note added. ENI has been present in Angola since 1980, producing around 145,000 barrels of oil per day. ENI Angola has been the operator of Block 15/06 since 2006, with a share of 36.84%, the other partners being Sonangol, with 36.84%, and SSI Fifteen, with 26.32%. MBA/IMYN // ADB.
