APS - Le câble sous-marin à fibre optique reliant l'Algérie à l'Espagne opérationnel

APS - VALENCE (Espagne) -La ministre de la Poste, des Télécommunications, des Technologies et du Numérique, Houda-Imane Faraoun, a procédé, jeudi à Valence (Espagne), à l'inauguration du système de câble sous-marin à fibre optique reliant le réseau de télécommunications national, à partir d'Oran et d'Alger, au réseau européen, au niveau de la ville de Valence.

Le système de câble, appelé ORVAL/ALVAL, qui compte plus de 770 Km de fibre optique sous la mer et d'une capacité de 40 Terabit, est raccordé à la station d’El Djamila à Alger, et aux deux nouvelles stations d'Oran et de Valence.

"Ce projet a été inscrit au titre du plan ORSEC, pour la sécurisation du réseau national de télécommunications, suite à l'incident l'ayant marqué en 2003, alors que l'Algérie disposait d'une seule voie internationale de télécommunications", a-t-on indiqué auprès d'Algérie Télécom Europe.

Le système permettra, au-delà de l'augmentation des capacités nationales en matière de bande-passante et de l'assurance de la pérennité de la connectivité internationale, d'assurer une diversification des points d'atterrissement par le raccordement au réseau espagnol, alors que le point de convergence de la quasi-totalité des systèmes sous-marins traversant la méditerranée et desservant les pays africains atterrissent à Marseille, en France, a-t-on expliqué.

"Cette nouvelle voie est une garantie, en cas d'incident majeur, que le réseau national sera toujours connecté au monde", a-t-on fait valoir.

Algérie Télécom Europe a souligné, qu'à la différence des systèmes auxquels l'Algérie est raccordée, soit le SEAMEW4 et plus récemment le MEDEX, le présent système ORVAL/ALVAL est "une infrastructure 100% algérienne, qui sera exploitée dans son intégralité par l'opérateur public national, à travers Algérie Télécom en Algérie et à travers Algérie Télécom Europe en Espagne".

Tout en renforçant les ressources nationales, le système est une opportunité pour l'opérateur national "de se positionner sur le marché international et s'engager sur la voie pour rejoindre les grands groupes de Télécommunications internationaux", a-t-on fait valoir.

Mme Faraoun a procédé, à cette occasion à l'inauguration du siège d'Algérie Télécom Europe à Valence.
