MAP - Tourist Arrivals in Morocco up 8.2% by End of July

Casablanca-September18,2019-(MAP)-Nearly 7.544 million tourists visited Morocco by the end of July 2019, up by 8.2% compared to the same period a year earlier, said the Tourism Observatory.

Foreign tourists' arrivals increased by 8.3%, while those of Moroccan expatriates rose by 8.1% by the end of July, the source added.
The main tourism markets witnessed an increase in arrivals during this period, particularly Italy (+13%), France (+10%), Spain (+9%), Germany (+9%), Belgium (+9%), the Netherlands (+8%) and the United Kingdom (+8%), the Observatory pointed out in its latest note on tourism statistics in Morocco.
Nights spent in classified hotels posted a rise of 6% at the end of July, said the same source, noting that the two tourist destinations of Marrakech and Agadir generated 57% of hotel nights in the first seven months of 2019.
Marrakech and Agadir posted increases of 8% and 3%, respectively, said the Observatory, noting that Tangier (+11%) also posted a good performance.
