Lusa - Business News - Portugal: Lisbon Airport operations restricted due to pace of resupplying fuel

Lisbon, Aug. 12, 2019 (Lusa) – The pace of resupplying Lisbon Airport with fuel is "insufficient, at levels well below those stipulated for minimum services," causing "operating restrictions," ANA, Portugal’s Airport Authority told Lusa on Monday.
In a written reply sent to Lusa, ANA said that it was continuously assessing the impact of the drivers' strike on fuel supplies at all the airports in its network.
The "insufficient" rate of refuelling so far has already led to the implementation of operating restrictions, "notably the reduction of aircraft refuelling".
ANA also reiterated that it "will continue to monitor the situation on a permanent basis with the government, oil companies, airlines and handling companies" in order to minimise the impact of the strike on airports.
The Prime Minister said today that compliance with minimum services in the drivers' strike has changed "from morning to afternoon" and announced the convening of an electronic Council of Ministers meeting to assess the need for civil requisition.
António Costa spoke to journalists at the Belém Palace in Lisbon, after a meeting with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, about the drivers' strike, a meeting that lasted about an hour.
The Prime Minister said that transportation of fuel is already being carried out by the national guard and police.
The Government decreed minimum services between 50% and 100% and declared an energy crisis, which implies "exceptional measures" to minimize the effects of the strike and ensure the supply of essential services such as security forces and medical emergency.
