TIRANA, Jan 25 /ATA/ Today, Prime Minister Edi Rama welcomed Vilma and Greta, two Albanian filmmaker sisters from Vlora, as guests on the podcast “FLASIM – Episode 3, Season 6.” The sisters reside and work in Los Angeles, United States, where they are engaged in film production.
During the conversation, Rama praised their story as a positive example of the creative energy of Albanians abroad, emphasizing that they have succeeded in turning their passion for art and film into a source of inspiration and positive energy.
According to the Prime Minister, Vilma and Greta proudly preserve their cultural identity while being fully integrated and active in the American film industry.
The sisters have produced four films to date and collaborate with the platform Amazon Prime in the United States, marking another success for the Albanian diaspora in the creative and cinematic industries. They have also won awards at several international film festivals.
During the podcast, it was announced that Vilma and Greta are currently in Albania working on a feature film about the life of Mother Teresa.
“We have developed an engaging script based on her life. Many people mistakenly believe that Mother Teresa is from India or Italy rather than Albania. Our aim is to portray how she became Mother Teresa, with a focus on her childhood and her Albanian roots,” the sisters stated.
According to the filmmakers, several locations are being considered for filming, including Skopje and Shkodër, with particular attention given to Shkodër’s historic architecture, which retains features from the Ottoman period such as traditional houses from that era.
Rama emphasized that such stories are evidence of the potential of Albanians wherever they are and of the important role the diaspora plays in promoting Albania’s image abroad.
