Organizers of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics said Monday that American pop star Mariah Carey will perform at the Games' opening ceremony at Milan's San Siro stadium on February 6.
"Recognised worldwide for her unmistakable voice and for a musical legacy that spans generations and cultures, Mariah Carey perfectly embodies the emotional spirit of the Games," said the statement announcing her participation.
"In this context, music, a universal language that bridges stories and perspectives, intertwines with the main theme of the Opening Ceremony: Armonia.
At the San Siro Olympic Stadium, this principle will take shape through an encounter of cultures, creativity and participation.
"Sport, with its values of equality, respect and inclusion, amplifies this narrative, transforming Harmony into a shared experience.
"Together, music and sport will give life to an Olympic Opening Ceremony where Harmony becomes an expression of collective energy, a symbolic space where communities come together, transcend boundaries and recognize themselves as part of the same vibrant momentum of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
"Mariah Carey's participation further underscores the international breadth of the Ceremony and its messages.
