TIRANA, December 6/ATA/ Governor of the Bank of Albania Gent Sejko stated that the digital transformation is the foundation on which modern economies will be built. He made the statement at the international conference on economics, business, innovation and technology (ICEBIT 2025) in Tirana. He added that technology, artificial intelligence and automation are creating new opportunities for growth and improved competitiveness, especially for developing economies like Albania.

Sejko highlighted the important achievement of Albania’s integration into SEPA, as of October 7, 2025, emphasizing that this step brings faster, cheaper and more secure payments to Europe. In parallel, the Bank of Albania is working to modernize internal payment systems and expand the use of 24/7 electronic payments.

Sejko underlined that innovation is also influencing the formulation of monetary policy and the monitoring of financial stability, through advanced analytical models and digitalized processes.

Governor praised the role of the University of Tirana and academia in building human capital and emphasized the importance of cooperation between public institutions and universities for the development of an intelligent and inclusive economy.
