Atalanta thumped Genoa 4-0 in Bergamo thanks to strikes by Albania skipper and centre-half Berat Djimsiti, Netherlands defensive midfielder Marten de Roon, Croatia midfielder Mario Pašalić, and 17-year-old Nigerian defender Honest Ahanor.
Inter also cruised into the last eight, thrashing Venezia 5-1 at San Siro, with Marcus Thuram scoring a double.
Serie A champions Napoli had to work harder, progressing with 9-8 win in a penalty shoot-out after regulation time ended 1-1.
Juventus were the first team to make the quarter-finals thanks to a 2-0 win over Udinese in Turin on Tuesday night.
On Thursday Lazio take on AC Milan in Rome and holders Bologna play host to Parma.
The tie between Roma and Torino takes place on January 13 while Fiorentina will tussle with Como on January 2
