NNA - Airport – National News Agency correspondent reported that the official farewell ceremony for His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has begun, starting with the Lebanese national anthem and the Vatican anthem.

The Pope shook hands with those bidding him farewell, with President General Joseph Aoun delivering Lebanon's farewell address.

President General Joseph Aoun, upon bidding farewell to Pope Leo XIV at Beirut Airport, said: "Your Holiness, this visit will remain etched in the memory of Lebanon and its people."

He added: "Our people are a people of faith who reject death and exile."

Aoun continued: "We have heard your message and will continue to embody it, and we cherish the hope of always being in your prayers."
