The Risk Assessment Committee was convened on Thursday by the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Nikos Papaefstathiou, due to the bad weather expected to prevail until Friday (November 28, 2025).
According to the Committee's scientists:
1) On Thursday, rains and thunderstorms will occur in most areas; however, the phenomena will be particularly intense in Western Greece, Lakonia, as well as in Central Macedonia (Prefectures of Serres and Chalkidiki) and in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
2) On Friday, the severe weather is forecast to continue, though in western Greece the weather will quickly become unsettled. The phenomena will be locally very intense in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.
Furthermore, as announced by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the General Secretariat of Civil Protection will issue a "RED CODE" alert on Friday for the North Aegean Region and the Dodecanese.
The regions and municipalities of the Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Greece, Peloponnese, Central Macedonia and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace have already been placed under a "RED CODE" alert.
