ANSA - Mimmo the Dolphin refuses to leave Venice waters

Stubbornly returns to St Mark's Basin after being led out to sea

Italy's now famous Mimmo the Dolphin is refusing to leave St Mark's Basin in Venice despite running the risk of being injured by boats or posing a hazard himself, and is again delighting tourists with his playful frolics.
The animal has chosen the basin off the famed basilica, and he doesn't want to leave.
Mimmo on Sunday returned to swim in perhaps the world's most famous body of water.
Just hours after being escorted out of the area on Saturday, using a special sonar device, the cetacean dodged the Port Authority officials who had coordinated the operation and reappeared in the basin, much to the delight of tourists.
Initially, when the dolphin was "guided" by boats into deeper waters, it was thought he had permanently ventured out to sea.
However, as soon as the "escort" returned to base, he made an about-face, once again choosing what he has decided is his natural habitat.
